Sustainable Landscape Designs Solutions for Public Spaces

We are leaders in environmentally sustainable design, as evidenced by our participation in the interior and landscape design of more than 10 LEED Platinum certified projects. Our work ranges from suburban detached houses to roof gardens on historic rehabilitated buildings in urban centers. We have also created inclusive outdoor play and learning environments for primary schools.

Public Projects

Camden Senior Rooftop Garden

Carlton Design, acting as a landscape architect to RPM Development, conceived of and designed a rooftop garden at Market Fair, a 35-unit senior citizen housing project located at 301 Market Street in downtown Camden. The project was certified as LEED Platinum, earning the maximum points from its landscaping.

The roof garden provides a safe, outdoor public space for the senior tenants. It provides residents a spectacular view of downtown Philadelphia and the Fourth of July fireworks over the Delaware River.

Montclair Natural Learning Environment

Carlton Design, acting as a landscape architect to the Bullock School PTA, designed an inclusionary outdoor learning environment for children of all abilities and stages of physical and social development.

Habitat gardens, vegetable gardens, small and large play spaces, small social gathering spaces, and play equipment were all integrated into a small site that promotes social interaction, environmental education, and physical activity.
